External blogging recap

I’ve been blogging for 10 years now, starting with a simple opinion on UML. In those 10 years, I’ve had productive and less productive years, in regards to writing. Recently, I’ve had the pleasure of getting involved in HitSubscribe (by Erik Dietrich and his wife Amanda), allowing me to combine something I like with an advancement for my career.

Here’s a recap of what I have already published.

For Submain, I wrote an article titled Commented Out Code Is Junk In Your Codebase. This is something I’ve always felt very strong about: commented out code. To summarize: remove it! The article lists why it’s bad and what to do about it. Sometimes, these pieces of commented out code do contain valuable information, but there are better alternatives for keeping this knowledge around.

Then, for Scalyr, I wrote about Common Ways People Destroy Their Log Files
. It’s a list of things you should and should not do when logging in your application.

I have several new posts coming up, so stay tuned!
